Matt McFedries - Debtor Daddy: Behind the Moustache

Debtor Daddy was one of ten teams that completed the first ever Christchurch Lightning Lab in November 2015 and successfully raised capital from a number of NZ angel investment groups.

Matt is a passionate entrepreneur with a number of wins and failures under his belt – all in software. He taught himself to code from library books back in 1999, then started a web company in 2007 which evolved into a global provider of websites to accountants.

In mid 2012 Matt’s second business Debtor Daddy was born and launched onto the global stage via Xero’s Add-on Marketplace. Debtor Daddy grew to over 700 paying customers with virtually zero advertising. Matt continues to lead Debtor Daddy as CEO, backed by a team of 7 working from CDC’s Greenhouse co-working space in Christchurch.

Matt is an avid student of Lean Startup, working to apply it in the day to day operation of his two companies. In this session he’ll be speaking about:

• The ongoing battle for product/market fit
• Doing the smallest thing
• Product as marketing
• Evolving from product guy to sales guy



Pre-drinks from 5:30pm, with (in)formalities starting at 6pm.
