He continually works to create new exciting forms of community engagement by developing new events and refining meeting formats. Lastly he works to enlarge the network for the chapter by finding additional partnerships and recruiting new members. Joe was raised by a hay farmer and a French teacher in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. Growing up as part of a successful small business taught him a lot of what it takes to make it as an owner. Namely hard work, sacrifice, and intelligent investments. Throughout his career he has continually looked for ways to improve processes to make work more efficient and to save companies money. These improvements have ranged from automation of account reconciliations to brand new detailed forecasting of funding and cash for a $9 billion dollar portfolio. His passion for helping others develop creative solutions is what led him to management consulting and joining Startup Grind. Patrick Rockhill, Community Logistics and Data Analytics As Ambassador and Chief Technical Guy for the Columbia Chapter, Patrick Rockhill brings over thirty years of entrepreneurial experience in business and civic group management and marketing, mostly as principal and co-founder. He helped build a half-dozen such organizations and sold his last major one eight years ago. During his entrepreneurial career, he also developed and installed full-stack, enterprise-wide systems in over 75 inbound contact centers throughout the U.S. and Canada. His current venture is developing innovative technological solutions to problems in the communications media space. Patrick can often be found in geek mode improving and expanding that platform. At home, Patrick encourages and helps the preschool grand kids to read (a lot); while out in the community, he invests his time in drug education and recovery programs. Josh Massey, Educational Programming I am a builder, coach, experiential educator, husband, father, and coffee enthusiast. Combine these…and it is no surprise to those that know me that Ortus Academy was the outcome. I am a leader in the Financial Intelligence Movement! At Ortus Academy, we know that money matters, but Financial Intelligence matters more. In order to have a meaningful life, an individual needs to be financially intelligent – meaning to understand the mechanics of money and to be aware of their own habits and emotions when it comes to financial behaviors – and that education in this field can better their mental, physical and social well-being. We’ve created a variety of ways to do this. The Money Club is our premier youth experience – 15 hours of hands-on education. We’ve created a live-action game (which acts as a practice field) that puts our players in a five-year simulation that forces them to be the decision makers. The club treats money like a sport – we have practice, drills, team meetings, games, and superstars.
