Gavan Walsh (Founder and CEO, iCabbi)
THIS IS A PAID EVENT - PURCHASE YOUR TICKET IN THE LINK BELOW Entrepreneurship runs in the Walsh family. Gavin Walsh, founder of iCabbi, grew up working in the family business, Irish School of Motoring. He has subsequently launched several businesses, in ecommerce, event management and even Christmas tree sales. He set up iCabbi in 2010 after getting lost while out walking in a remote part of Portugal. It occurred to him at the time that it would be useful to be able to see the live location of taxis on his smartphone and book one without having to speak to someone. When he returned home from holidays, he started building his taxi dispatch and booking management platform. Based in Sutton, Co Dublin, iCabbi now develops software for taxi and private hire companies in the UK, US, Canada, Asia and Ireland, with customer retention levels of 99.2 per cent. The software enables these traditional firms to compete with new entrants such as Hailo, Lyft and Uber. iCabbi currently powers more than 75,000 vehicles that have completed 300m road trips using its platform and currently handles over 500,000 trips per day on its platform. In June 2018 RCI Bank and Services, the investment arm of Groupe Renault took a majority stake of 75% in the Dublin company, and with further investment will add 120 additional staff to the company over the next two years Agenda 6:30 pm: Registration; Networking & Refreshments 7:00 pm: Fireside Chat 8:30 pm: Networking & Refreshments --- Speaker Gavan Walsh - iCabbi (Founder, CEO) This November we welcome Gavan Walsh, founder and CEO of iCabbi. iCabbi develops software for taxi and private hire firms across the globe, and with a recent investment from Groupe Renault, will add 120 additional staff to the company to support continued commercial growth.
