Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Guidelines for Protecting your Personal Information online
Carlos Lobato, Chief Privacy Officer at New Mexico State University, will discuss current safe computing practices to help you avoid Identify Theft.
According to Lobato, "We are currently living in a technological era in which we use computing devices pervasively in our daily lives to accomplish many tasks professionally as well as at home.
"Computing devices may include a desktop computer, better known as a personal computer (PC), laptops, iPads, tablets, smart phones, home appliances, and many other devices with internet connectivity.
"Inevitably, with the high usage of these devices comes CYBER SECURITY RISKS, which could result in the breach of your privacy and personally identifiable information, which, in turn, could result in identity theft."
Mr. Lobato will provide specific tips on the effective use of two-factor authentication (2FA). Using only your username and a password for data security is no longer considered secure. Following Lobato's presentation, we will have a Q & A session.
Biography of Carlos Lobato, CPA
Carlos Lobato Is a practicing CPA in New Mexico with eighteen years of progressive professional experience. He has been a small business owner in Deming, New Mexico, since 2002.
Mr. Lobato graduated from New Mexico State University with a double major in Accounting and Business Computer Systems in 2000 and an MBA in 2014. He has served as the Chief Privacy Officer at NMSU since 2012 to the present and has extensive auditing and information security/privacy experience. He possesses several technical worldwide IT certifications.
