Hi all,

Today we bring you our regular recruitment email, plus news on a new program for MedTech startups, as well as an update on the NBN post election.

Job 1:  Junior or Graduate PHP Developer

Melbourne based startup Attendly are hiring a PHP developer, just prior to expanding to the UK.  If you have this skill set:

  • An understanding of MVC design patterns and OO programming
  • Experience with PHP and MySQL
  • Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Exposure to Linux

and are looking for a great entry level opportunity with a growing Melbourne startup, then check out the full job advert here.

Job 2:  Business Development Manager

Do you thrive in a fast-moving startup environment?  Are you ready to go above and beyond to help Venuemob change the events industry the same way Expedia/Tripadvisor changed the travel industry?

Working in Melbourne, you will be establishing a strong Venuemob presence in key areas in your city. You’ll need to have a strong understanding of bars and restaurants across your city. Focused and efficient, you will rapidly be growing our base of venue partners by identifying and capitalising on sales opportunities over the phone and face to face. We are looking for self-motivated sales talent who think outside the box and are driven by good results and smashing targets.

Keen?  Apply here.

Job 3:  Sales Intern

Want to get into sales? A current uni student?  Join Venuemob!

With our head office based inside Melbourne University (they’re an investor) – this is perfect for a student wanting to get some serious training and exposure to a:

- startup sales environment
- learn from experienced business development/sales professionals

Of course, this position is not limited to current students of Melbourne University.

Keen?  Apply here.

Job 4:  Wordpress Wordsmith

So, you know WordPress back to front.  Obviously you’ve built your own site on it, and probably a bunch of others too, in fact you’ve toyed with freelance development.

You know your Genesis from your Thesis, your pages from your posts and your Woo from your WPMU.

And you’d like to share that love with the World, through the largest WordPress site on the web, WPMU ORG.

Hey, maybe you also fancy crafting insanely good copy, emails and social media goodness for the leading WordPress premium provider WPMU DEVtoo – that’s not required but it’s definitely there for the taking.

Oh, and you’re in Melbourne, and looking to come work FT at our cracking new Port Melbourne HQ with some of the best WP people in the World.

It’ll be as challenging as any journalistic or editorial role in this city, and as interesting. And it’ll give you more audience, profile and opportunities too.

Keen?  Apply here.

Founder Opportunity 1:  Sitepoint Group Founders Apprentice Program

The SitePoint Group is looking for Founders Apprentices.  As a founders apprentice, you’ll have:

  • 3 months on a basic salary

  • an opportunity to work with an experienced group of entrepreneurs

  • on a project that has a chance of being #1 in the world in it’s niche

  • with access to a great group of design, development and marketing nerds

For more information and guidance on how to apply, go here.

Founder Opportunity 2:  UReferme

Steven Matejka is looking for a co-founder for UReferme.

Ureferme is a cloud base computer system, connecting merchants to their customers.  It targets the retail and service industry in an offline , real shop scenario.  It gives the merchant an opportunity to track the customer flow and reward repeat customers.

When a merchant offers a reward ( real shopping dollar reward - not some points) for referrals - the customer has a reason to come back.

Contact Steven on [address removed] for more information.

MedTech’s Got Talent’  is a unique program to support promising medical technology (devices, diagnostics, services, eHealth/HealthIT, etc.) entrepreneurs with business concept pitching skills, technology roadmap development and launching commercialisation activities.

With $20,000 up for grabs for your medtech idea, you should check it out.

For more information contact Laura Falconer: [address removed]

With the LNP taking power on the weekend, the promise of Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) as the backbone of our broadband infrastructure is now at risk.  Whatever you may think of various governments and their respective policies, it seems clear that FTTP is the superior solution (albeit more expensive)

If like us you think the extra money is worth it in order to get the better infrastructure, we would encourage you to sign the petition to get the LNP to change their mind.

Make your voice heard here.
