Microsoft is rapidly updating and releasing new analytics & reporting products to the market. Some of the tools are relatively new – Power Pivot, Power BI, Microsoft R, Data Catalog, Azure ML – whereas some of the tools are re-makes of classics – SSRS, SSAS Tabular. On the whole things are more different than similar for folks who first surveyed this landscape in the 90s or early 2000s. This talk runs through some of the major currents that are re-shaping the way SQL Server Professionals deal with analytics & reporting addressing questions like
1) “how has the role of IT shifted in the era of self-service analytics?” and
2) “how have Microsoft tools adapted to embrace advanced analytics?”.
I expect a lively discussion, a little bit of demoing, and some resources to take into your 2017.
