March 8th is International Women's Day, so we decided that would be a great time to discuss Michelle Obama's autobiography. This book is not just for women though! Most people agree that she is an amazing woman. What this book gives us is an inspiring story of someone who with grit and determination and strength of character overcame the odds and became an iconic leader in the modern world. More importantly, the book shows us her humanity. She is the first to admit she is just a person who struggles with the same feelings of not being enough that so many people wrestle with.
For this book club, we will discuss the issues of race and gender, with Michelle Obama's story as a jumping off point. She would be the first to tell us her story, though similar to the stories of many, is her story and the discussion must have more voices. We will also consider how we can learn from the strategies and insights she used to overcome. We will get specific and practical so you can leave with the meeting with an actionable step that will move you toward becoming even more of your wonderful self!
Come on out and meet some other stellar people who are open to growth and learning more about themselves and the world!
We will meet at Hycroft Manor, 1489 McRae Avenue.
Tickets available soon.
