Shooting for Magazine Submission Master Class! w/Vanessa!
Have you ever wanted to see your work published in a Print/Online Magazine or Online Blog or Web Site? This full-day workshop will take you through the steps to do just that! Learn key lighting methods to produce the images that magazine editors will like and use! This is your chance to not only learn and participate in creating a creative editorial story fit for publication, but it's also a chance to have an exclusive opportunity for one of your images to possibly be published in the next print issue of Borealis Magazine (! Stephen will provide you with tips and tricks that from more than 11 years of experience building editorials. From how to make a story work to where and how to submit it for best results. What editors look for to what to do to ensure publication. We will create an editorial story of 4 or 5 looks in this full day Master Class. From wardrobe selection, Makeup and Hair preparation to selecting the images for your story, to post-production, and final preparation for submission. You will be able to watch Stephen at work, shooting alongside you. He will help guide you during each look to create the best images for the story's concept. Each participant will have their images reviewed by Stephen during the final image selection process. Where a collaborative collection of the best images from the workshop shoot will be used as the final story for submission. Then, at a later time, the Editorial Team at Borealis Magazine will review the submission images for possible use in their next print issue in early January! This will be a full team event. We will have an agency class model Layna on hand to be the focus of our story. A professional Makeup and Hair Artist will help in the transformation of our vision become reality for your story. Plus we will have a wardrobe pulled by a Stylist to help us create the looks we wish to create that are cohesive and form a story. This is a Full Day Intensive Workshop. Please make sure you arrive a bit early so as not to miss anything we do that day. We will be using professional studio equipment! So you can learn key lighting methods to produce the images that magazine editors will like and use. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. Morning: · Creating a creative concept · Deciding on wardrobe looks to shoot · Key features of a successful editorial · Shooting first 2 looks Afternoon: · Shooting final 3 looks · Image preparation and selection · Building a story · Post-production · Image Preparation and Submission Our Model: :: Vanessa :: Bonus: You are welcome to stay after the session, for roughly 45 minutes, when Stephen will review some important post-production workflow steps he uses for editorial work. As well he will review the type of post-processing and things to look for and do to ensure your work will get published! Who Should Attend? Whether a seasoned photographer looking to freshen up your portfolio, just starting out your career in photography, this workshop is suited for all levels. What To Bring: · Your camera with a flash hot-shoe that works. If you have a Sony/Minolta, you'll need a hot shoe adapter as we use wireless triggers (Pocket Wizards) · Any lens, preferably 35mm up to 100mm · A fully charged battery · Freshly Formatted Memory Card Model Release: A non-commercial model release will be provided. Images from the workshop can be used for personal promotional purposes but not to be used to make a profit.

    This group is for photographers who are serious about improving their skills and working together as a team to learn from one another.

    Studio Amenities include 14’ Ceilings, Large Open Shoot area, 2 x Full Makeup / Hair Stations, Wardrobe Racks & Steamer, Sound system, Kitchen Area with Sink, Super Boom and many Lighting stands, Profoto Lighting System, Various Light Shapers, Pocket Wizard Muti-Max Transceivers,Various Colour 9’ Paper Rolls on Manfrotto Expan Background System, Fully Air Conditioned, Client sitting area, Free Parking plus many more features.     Stephen M Loban is a professional fashion and beauty photographer with a large portfolio of internationally published work. His signature use of light and shadows emphasize not only his models’ features but also his unique vision. Described as “deeply zealous about his photographic work” and “consistently creating images that are inspiring and inventive”, his eye tries to catch that moment with the click of a shutter. Intelligence, sophistication, truth, are all elements he looks for when taking pictures. The mood he tries to create is different to all who view it, and that is what makes his photography so unique. Stephen feels as an artist, he should always be growing, trying new things and pushing his abilities and equipment.
