What we're about

Weekly Zen Meditation meetings followed by a talk and Q&A session. Duration 1-hour. Led by Sensei Ryuko, a Soto Zen Priest and a Master Zen Teacher in various traditions. Our practice is based on the Japanese Soto tradition, but combines this with our background in Rinzai (koan work), Korean and Vietnamese Zen practices. All welcome regardless of experience, and particularly welcome if you share our community spirit that helping ourselves is as important as helping others.

DAIBUTSUJI - WEEKLY ZEN MEDITATION AND TALK (ZOOM MEETINGS)

Hello Everyone

WE MEET SATURDAYS AT 9AM PDT

How to join the Zoom session: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/516177070

----
We're returning to Zoom meetings for now, and aiming for hybrid meetings later this year. Just Zoom now, so all welcome wherever you are in the world, and then hybrid where some will be present in person here in Pasadena, California, and others attending through Zoom.

Daibutsuji (part of Still Center Zen Order) was founded in 1987 and is in the Soto Zen lineage (Japanese Zen) and Rev Ryuko is a Zen Priest. But Roshi Ryuko is also an ordained Ecumenical Catholic Priest (Franciscan Brother), and is a Zen Master in both the Korean and Vietnamese Zen traditions, too. Each week we will have a short meditation session (10-15 minutes) followed by a talk and a Q&A period. We meet for one hour. Roshi Ryuko and other Zen Teachers also offer one-on-one Zoom sessions for doing koan introspection or simply to have a mentoring session if koan work isn't a good fit for you.

At Daibutsuji you can simple attend our weekly meetings whenever you are able as a casual member. However, we also offer training in Zen starting with taking precepts and gaining a dharma name, and, for those who feel called to it, you could then move on to training either as a Zen Priest or as a Zen Teacher, or some combination. We do ordain people and our ordinations are recognized everywhere.
