19.00 - Talk#1 Apache Kafka in the Cloud for Busy Software Engineers
By Ricardo Ferreira and Viktor Gamov - https://twitter.com/riferrei / https://twitter.com/gamussa?lang=en
Who are you? You are a talented Software Engineer who has been using Apache Kafka in your projects On-Premise for a very long time, as well as writing cool code to write and read data to/from topics. However, recently your manager asked you to design an architecture in which both Apache Kafka and your code will run in the Cloud -- and just like that -- you find yourself worried about being able to deliver this project.
This talk is going to reveal that there is nothing to be worried about -- though you may need to learn a few tips and tricks to ensure the success of your projects. This talk is going to address that by showing how Confluent Cloud works, and how to deploy the tools from Confluent Platform (Schema Registry, REST Proxy, Kafka Connect, KSQL, and Control Center) into multiple cloud providers (AWS and GCP) using a open-source project based on Terraform. It will also show how to deploy Kafka in Kubernetes, which gives you the ability to bring your clusters to whatever Cloud provider you want. Join us in this fun and interactive talk where there will be few slides and lots of code discussions, where the audience will even get the chance to generate data through their mobile phones.
👋 ~21:00 After the talks we will be able to join the Jfokus mingle at the same venue (https://www.jfokus.se/jfokus19/).
Looking forward to seeing you!
