The LA Phil and Secret Location have created an Immersive Music Experience that takes the orchestra to people who would not normally have the chance to experience it.
Eric W. Shamlin from Secret Location will be joining us to discuss the stereoscopic, 360-degree virtual reality experience, created with the LA Phil. He will also tell us about the work his team has been doing which recently won them a Primetime Emmy.

VAN Beethoven (http://www.laphil.com/vanbeethoven) is a 4-minute virtual reality experience using new Oculus technology that allows you to experience a private concert with the LA Phil from a specially-designed touring truck, which is complete with authentic carpet and seating from Walt Disney Concert Hall. You’ll put on the headset and immediately be transported to Walt Disney Concert Hall to experience the opening minutes of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, with a few surprises.
About Eric W. Shamlin VP; Managing Director & Executive Producer at Secret Location
Eric is an Emmy and Cannes Lion award-winning storyteller with 20 years of experience across multiple creative industries; film, television, visual effects, advertising and digital. Now in virtual reality. He has a proven track record in leading advertising, business development, media production, product development and marketing initiatives for Fortune 500 broadcasters, clients, institutions, and studios. Eric started at a regional ABC affiliate and rose quickly to cover many seminal events of the ‘90s. In addition to news, while at ABC, Eric also produced, wrote or covered hundreds of hours broadcast content including news, documentary, sports, variety shows and live events. While at ABC he received an Emmy, two other Emmy nominations and a list of other awards for his work. From there Eric made a jump to narrative and creative storytelling. First by working in high-end visual effects at Radium and later in digital media at world-renowned agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. His experience in digital media culminated in working on the iPhone 5 launch at Apple. Now, he has returned to his entertainment roots, bringing his digital skills, and has found renewed passion in a recently converged media landscape. Eric now makes regular speaking appearances to discuss storytelling in an industry where both traditional and digital skills are required.
