Hello Transmedia LA members!

Indiecade, the International Festival of Independent Games, is returning to Culver City this October 3-6.

One of the panels at this year's festival is near and dear to our Transmedia LA hearts:

The Fool's Guide to Immersive Narrative Adventure: Lessons from the Making of “The Jejune Institute”

Sunday, October 6th at 1:30 pm

Location: Foshay Theater on Venice.

(Special Price--See Below)

Space is limited to 40 members! RSVP only if you can indeed attend.

This is an inside look at the making of the seminal Alternate Reality Game The Jejune Institute and will feature TLA Member, and Jejune producer, Sara Thacher in conversation with fellow Jejune producer Uriah Findley.

This event is normally only available as part of the All-Access Festival Pass ($450), but we are being given special guest list access for the first 40 TLA members who sign up and buy a Festival Day Pass ($20). (If you want to get a better pass than that--Festival Plus or GameU--we will also add you to the list! Note: all funds go to IndieCade.)

I'm terrible at math and even I can tell you that's a pretty good deal.

Here's how this works: RSVP for this event using this MEETUP announcement. Buy a Festival Day Pass from the Festival. Bring your Festival wristband to the panel on the 6th and we will get you in to the panel.

What else does the Day Pass get you? Access to the IndieCade Game Walk and Night Games (120 games total) including winners of the IndieCade/Oculus VR gameJam contest.

BONUS!

There is also a screening of the film The Institute which tells the story of the game from the player's perspective along with insights from the creators. (I saw an early cut last year, and it was fantastic.)

When: Friday, October 4th from 3:00- 5 pm

Location: Ivy Substation/Actor's Gang Theater 9070 Venice Blvd. Culver City, CA 90232

When RSVP-ing please leave a message letting us know if you intend to see the film as well. Alternately, contact Noah (noahjnelson at gmail.com/@noahjnelson) to check on film availability without attending the panel. There MAY be LESS SPACE for the film, so please communicate to us which you are attending.

ABOUT INDIECADE

If games and interactive media are your thing you might want to consider grabbing an All Access or Festival Plus Pass. Here's word from Stephanie Barish, CEO of IndieCade on what this year's festival entails:

We have the most amazing conference on Fri, Sat, Sun - with everything from John Romero talking about the 20th anniversary of Doom, to an interview by Aueria Harvey (tale of tales) interviewing Rand Miler on his 20th anniversary of Myst and then a summation by the fabulous Frank Lantz. Then talks by the Bastion and Papa & Yo developers and super interesting talks like the JeJune institute. Additionally the festival is literally filled with 120 of IndieCade selections in addition to tents full of PlayStations and Nintendo's indie games (current and upcoming ) as well as our Oculus VR gameJam winners to play and tons more stuff.

Noah here with a personal note: IndieCade is an amazing event that is one of the highlights of my reporting year every year. Each festival has shown me the shape of things to come from games as an artistic pursuit. Well worth your time!

IndieCade needs our help spreading word about the conference, so if you are attending, please tweet/FB/LinkedIn/Tumblr.
