What we're about

Storytelling was practised by shaman of old, both as entertainment and to instruct. Our getting together for role-play and board gaming is the modern equivalent.

This group was started to bring entertainment professionals, who also happen to like boardgames and RPG games. However, you don't have to be in the entertainment industry to enjoy it!

Recently we combined with another group that enjoys interactive theater games or what we are now dubbing Immersive Environment Games(IEG)-- Live action games where the mechanics and environments are built up to immerse the players in the story and make it accessible to more players, who might not want to go full tilt with costuming, etc.

All of these individuals engage in the art of storytelling through gaming. At the heart of the group we play heavy thematic and usually collaborative storytelling games. One theory is that through playing these games, we will naturally gain a better understanding of storytelling. Also, in playing these games at a certain level we begin to create other "house" rules, changing the game's balance, replayability and other factors, so we become better game designers, as well as better storytellers.

There will be opportunities to deconstruct games and story on an intellectual level, if the interest is there from the members. Are you an old school RPG gamer or do you like thematic boardgames that tell a story? Have you had the interest, but are a tad bit gun shy? This group is especially seeking working entertainment professionals, such as writers, directors, producers, cinematographers, actors, game developers, screenwriters, editors, and anyone involved in creative storytelling for the masses.

IF YOU LIVE IN THE GREATER LOS ANGELES AREA AND ARE LOOKING FOR HIGHER LEVELS OF GAMEPLAY, SIGN UP AND WE WILL GET A GAME GOING BY YOU OR START A LOCAL CHAPTER IN YOUR AREA. CHECK OUT THE PROPOSAL FOR OTHER CHARTERS..

Those who fit that criteria and are interested in playing casual games, we usually meet once or twice a month. Members are free to bring games or request a game for a session or series of sessions. We own many boardgames for lots of options and we are always looking for GM's for collaborative storytelling RPG's. You can find examples of these on the member pages after you join. If you are a GM or serious player of any game system and want to participate, but feel you don't meet the criteria, please reach out and message us.....fortune favors the bold.

This group is 3 years old now, there are a few interesting files available to members in regards to The Hero's Journey in storytelling and storytelling in dramatic acting. Members are free to share PDF's if they will enhance gameplay or your own game development, film, TV, creative writing projects. As mentioned above depending on how the group organically grows and the interests, there will be opportunities to have educational sessions where speakers and/or members will come and discuss game design, game mechanics, and all aspects of storytelling in general.

The Weekday typical format of RPG games will be a 3-4 sessions (to get a proper feel and understanding of a game system) weekly or bi-weekly depending on the members that signup or run the event:

The Weekend format is the same just 2-4 hours longer...
