What we're about

Hi there!

This is a group for LA beverage industry people who are studying for exams: sommeliers, bartenders, wine professionals, baristas, servers, wine shop employees, wine reps, event planners, brewers, winemakers, etc.

Are you a beverage professional? Are you looking for a serious wine, beer, and spirits study group? Do you want to learn from others, make flash cards, and do blind tastings? If you answered yes, please join us!

**This is not an introductory wine tasting group. If you are looking for an introductory wine tasting group, I would recommend https://www.meetup.com/Demystifying-Wine-Tasting/ where I teach fun introductory classes. :)

What do I need to bring?:

A pen and paper, if you are a the note-taking type. Wine, if we have decided we are doing a blind tasting. And a friendly mindset, cause we are all just here to help each other out.

What are we studying?:

Each study session is themed by region, beverage type, etc. We will help each other to memorize those elusive Premier and Grand crus, talk about aging requirements, remind each other about those pesky regional laws, and occasionally do a blind tasting.

**Again, if you don't have intermediate + knowledge -- don't fret! We all start at the beginning. Go ahead and check out Kevin Zraly's book, or the Wine Bible, or Wine for Dummies, or Wine Folly. They are excellent! You also might love to go to Demystifying Wine Tasting MeetUps, which are intro level tasting groups: https://www.meetup.com/Demystifying-Wine-Tasting/

Members of this group are expected to treat each other with respect, courtesy, and kindness. Please let me know if someone is acting inappropriately. Snobbery is also frowned upon. And please, enjoy our Meetups responsibly. We are all professionals; don't drink and drive.
