Welcome to the Ipswich Craftwork group, hosted by Ipswich Makerspace, a place for all creative minds to meet up and make things. If you like creating, repairing, inventing, or art of any kind, you're in the right place. You can work on your own projects, share and learn skills, make joint creations, or just chat and procrastinate in creative company.
Meetups are every other Wednesday evening, held at a fully equipped workroom in central Ipswich, with tools and equipment for just about everything, from sewing machines to saws. I won't bore you with a huge list, but some of the equipment has amazing potential.
Common materials (eg glue, wood, cotton, etc) are freely available at the workshop, and others are purchasable there (fancy paper, card, leather, plywood, etc). Naturally you can bring your own materials too, and there is space to leave projects between sessions. There are traditional arts media such as coloured pencils, paints and so forth, and the new; design software and 3d printers. Most importantly there's a kitchen, so free tea and coffee!
Occasionally we will also hold specific craft workshops, such as etching, leatherwork, creating tiny ornate wooden boxes, designing and casting silver jewellery, chainmail jewellery, bookbinding, or precision lacemaking, depending on demand.
