What we're about

Writers should attend who want to improve their craft through critique. We review poetry, creative nonfiction, and fiction of most genres. We start off with a writing prompt exercise for 20 minutes the discuss people who brought copies of their works to review (one poem or five double-spaced pages).

Sun Poet's Writing Workshop

Online event

New Year! New Format (for now)!
Due to the continuing pandemic concerns, we are moving the workshop to Google Meet. We will be meeting for only an hour each time, but we will also be meeting twice a month. The time slot will be from 6PM-7PM. Due to this new format, we will not be doing a writing prompt and focus solely on critiques.
This Thursday will be a "Meet and Greet" to explain how the process will work and meet all the members interested in this new journey. We may even supplement it to our physical workshop once things open up to in-person meetings.
To join the meeting click the link at 6PM on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Look forward to seeing you!

Sun Poets Writing Workshop

Online event

Please send your work of either one poem or prose (no more than two pages double-spaced) at least 48 hours prior to the workshop for others to view. Please send your work with your email address to [masked] and I will email it to other attendees. Word format is recommended as we can make changes and comments through Word’s Track Changes and Comments options.

This is a new format for us; we are still learning how to navigate through this way of workshopping. No system is perfect and will develop and evolve along the way. If this venture proves successful enough, it can supplement the writing workshop when in-person events resume. This will give a chance for writers who are unable to attend the physical workshop, but still want their work critiqued and enjoy the camaraderie of other writers.

NOTE: Please do not share the writer’s work and plagiarism will not be tolerated. If you do like the work and you can retain it for your personal collection to admire, then let the writer know how much you enjoy the work and it’s new special place.
