Nashville 'Living the Pledge' to End Racism Training 1/2

Details

The Nashville Pledge to End Racism is a personal commitment to work in the Greater Nashville area to address racism in all its forms. A few of us from SAN are working with a group at First UU to develop this program and train facilitators in the workshop. The training is a total of 12 hours split into two sessions. The next set of sessions is on April 28 and May 12. You will learn how to teach participants of future ‘Living the Pledge’ workshops. The primary goal of this training is to develop confidence in your ability to:
• Integrate the Nashville Pledge into our daily lives
• Recognize and challenge systemic racism
• Confront racism and bias in our everyday lives, and
• Take leadership in ending racism in our community, our culture, and our lives

There is no registration fee. Lunch will be available for $12 for those who would like to order. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch at no charge. We will provide beverages on both days.

Participants are asked to commit to being present at BOTH SESSIONS and do pre-reading/viewing before the workshop and other assignments between sessions. By registering at https://www.thefuun.org/registration/, you will be registered for both days.

As part of the workshop, participants develop a community of support and an understanding of how to use support in deepening our work in building a just and equitable multicultural world.

This training is for those who want to:
• Deepen your learning about racism and put yourself on the road to intercultural competence.
• Build on prior anti-racism/multiculturalism training, to take your understanding to a much deeper level.

A special message to white men: Please join us! This is an area where you can be singularly powerful. Our society gives you a megaphone. We understand it puts you at some risk to use this megaphone. This training is designed to assist you in using it wisely and effectively. The participation of every person is highly valued and celebrated by our organization. The participation of white men is valued more by our culture.
