What we're about

Join us for hikes on Maui!

We get together on Sunday mornings to enjoy our amazing island’s natural beauty.

Our hikes will take you from the Mars-scape of Haleakala crater to the jungles of Hana, and every climate zone in between.

Please pick up at least one piece of litter on our hike!

Sliding Sands to the cabins

Location visible to members

Meet at Long's Drugs Pukalani parking lot => basically across the street from King K High School. I will park in the back near the highway (may be a bit crowded due to the Farmers' Market). Carpool (to the extent possible) to the Upper Visitor Center parking lot. Hike down Sliding Sands Trail to at least Kapalaoa Cabin (Paliku Cabin if we're feeling up to it). Lunch, then turn around and return (before dark!). A full day to be sure. Please do not underestimate the difficulty of this hike. Also, when you RSVP, please have a picture of your face in your profile (no anonymous RSVPs). Please bring $1 to go to Craig to help offset the price of using this website ($17 bucks a month!). Regular Sunday hikes (9 AM) up past the windmills are my strategy for preparing for this expedition.

Hana Hwy Secret Waterfall Adventure

Needs a location

**Please read to the end** Hana Hwy waterfall adventure for intrepid hikers. Only RSVP if you have attended an evaluation hike with me on the Pali Windmill route (11 miles), then you are cleared for this hike. If you have not done the evaluation hike with me, please do. I need to make sure you are able to handle yourself on difficult, challenging terrain. I'm by no means an advanced hiker, but I can't take anyone out on the trail unless I know what you can (and cannot) do. This Hana Hwy. adventure takes us to a little known spot that cannot be disclosed without ruining it. The route takes a couple hours and involves swimming and slippery rocks. Adventurous hikers only, please. Meet at Haiku Com. Center, 8:50 AM, leave at 9:00 AM. Carpool because of limited parking at the trailhead. Island residents only for now, due to Covid-19.
