Sunday Assembly Brisbane Official Launch!

Brisbane Powerhouse & Sunday Assembly Brisbane Present:

The international Sunday Assembly Roadshow is coming to town! Join UK comedian Sanderson Jones as he launches Sunday Assembly Brisbane.

The Sunday Assembly is a godless congregation that meets to hear great talks, sing songs and celebrate the wonder of life. Eight months after launching in London, it’s become an international phenomenon, with satellite assemblies launching in twenty cities around the world.

Come along to the Brisbane launch and hear founder/comedian Sanderson Jones speak about his passion for celebrating life. Experience the joy of belting out a feel-good song within the safety of a crowd, and have a cuppa afterwards while getting to know other people in your community who want to live better, help often and wonder more.

For the official page on the Brisbane Powerhouse website, go to:

**** Even if you've already RSVPd to this event via, please register on the Eventbrite website so we can organise tickets. The event is FREE, so please join us!

Our itinerary for the night:

ABC Compass is filming our launch! So please be aware that you may be filmed as an audience member/Sunday Assembler arriving to the venue and during the launch.

The Songs, in case you wish to practice before-hand, are: Stand by Me, We Can Work it Out, Imagine and Don't Worry Be Happy. We will be Rocking Out on the first two numbers but then, with respect to other events and patrons of the Brisbane Powerhouse, going *acoustic* for the last two songs. Music Director Karen Anderson will be leading us with humour and grace and we ask you to bring your humour, grace and awareness to these quieter moments also.

Our guest speaker Michael Doneman's company Edgeware has a three-part DNA: Make money, have fun, change the world. Bouncing off that structure he is going to share his views on how capitalism might have a human face, and that entrepreneurs can make things better; that there is a counterforce, and that there are reasons to be cheerful!

The Hat will be passed at a certain point during the event. The Brisbane Powerhouse has been incredibly generous in their support of this event but there have still been considerable start-up costs that have accrued and been paid for out of individual member pockets. There is certainly no obligation to give, but if you are willing and able we appreciate your support.

And finally, if you need a seat we encourage you to PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY.As we have mentioned before, seating on the Turbine Platform is limited. If you know you need a seat please arrive in plenty of time to claim one.

We are also looking for a band to donate their time and talents to our launch in November.

So if you're musically inclined and are open to playing something we can all sing along to, please email me!

    Hi Everyone,

Great to see so many new people interested in Sunday Assembly Brisbane.

Currently we have 5 'official' committee members who help organise Sunday Assembly Brisbane, and we are busily taking the steps to bring it all together for the official launch in November.

We need at least 2 others to join the committee team.
We meet weekly (online and in person) for about an hour. So if you're interested in joining the SAB committee, please send me an email via the Meetup page.

Just read about the group in the Sydney Morning Herald and glad to find it is establishing in Brisbane. Look forward to meeting and sharing viewpoints with others.

    Hi all!

The organization team is looking for guest speakers suggestions for the launch. So if there's anyone (Brisbane based) you'd like to suggest, let us know!

I truly share Jesse's comments. We need to have our voices heard, too and we very much need a community to call our own. Well done, Zara! Count me in.

i have wanted for a long time to be involved in a group that takes the positive aspects of religion (community, positive thinking, compassion for others, celebration of life etc) but that is non superstitious and is rational. i hope this movement does well
