ABOUT THE HARDWOOD LODGE: The Harwood Lodge is owned and operated by the Sierra Club. It was built in 1930 as a memorial to Aurelia S. Harwood, past president of the Sierra Club. The lodge is located at the base of Mt. Baldy in the pines at an elevation of 6,000 feet. The sleeping capacity of the lodge is 64 with the potential for more on the floor or camping outside. This is a large, rustic stone building with meeting hall/living room, dining room, kitchen, men's and women's dorms, and family bedrooms. The lodge has electricity, hot and cold water, showers, fully equipped kitchen including dishware, cutlery, stoves/ovens, and refrigerators.

ABOUT OUR STAY: The fee for our overnight stay will be a total of $30 per person, that includes $15 for the lodge and $15 for an annual Sierra Club membership. The fee for those that may wish to park and/or party at the Lodge without an overnight stay will be a total of $20 per person that includes a $5 day use fee and $15 for an annual Sierra Club membership. (The membership fee is not required for current Sierra Club members.) Please have cash or check in the correct amount as separate payments for the parking ($5), the lodge ($15) and the membership ($15). Credit cards will not be accepted. We will be checking in to the lodge between 4-6 PM on Saturday afternoon following our hike to Baldy peak. Sleeping accommodations will be men's and women's dorms with a bunk bed and mattress; you will need to bring your own sleeping bag or bedding. Cocktails and a potluck dinner will be followed by dancing on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning, we will have a potluck breakfast between 7-8 AM. The group will be responsible for taking out all of our trash and leaving the lodge as clean or cleaner than we found it. Following breakfast, we will be able to linger at the lodge or take a 9 AM hike to a nearby waterfall scheduled as a separate event with a meetup at the Lodge. Check out on Sunday afternoon will be no later than 3 PM.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: Sunset Hikes has a group reservation for this June 11/12 date at the Lodge. Please do not sign up for this overnight lodging, unless you are sure to attend. Late cancellations and no shows will not be appreciated. Because of Sierra Club restrictions, the RSVP limit will be maintained at 70.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From Orange County take the 57 Freeway heading north.... take the 219 Freeway heading east toward Claremont and exit on Baseline Road.... take the first right onto Padua Avenue.... turn right at the light to continue up Mt.
