ABOUT THE HIKE: This is a three mile beginner hike to three of the major hiking attractions in the Big Bear Lake area. We will meetup at the parking lot for the Wildland's Conservancy Bluff Lake Reserve. We will then hike one mile round trip around the lake to the Champion Lodgepole Pine. The Bluff Lake Reserve is located at an elevation of 7,600 feet and features towering pines, a 20 acre lake and a protected mountain marsh/meadow complex. The Champion Lodgepole Pine is 450 years old and the world's tallest at over 110 feet. We will then take a single track trail approximately two miles round trip to Castle Rock with scenic and expansive views of Big Bear Lake. Following the hikes, we will return to picnic tables at the Reserve for a picnic lunch before heading back to the town of Big Bear and home. These hikes are dog friendly.
