nothing like freshly made pasta!

Blue Sardinia Restaurant

moshi moshi! there's much debate over where pasta originates from - Italy or China? Well, we can argue this over dinner at Blue Sardinia, Guildford. Blue Sardinia first opened in November 2016 and is the sister of Shardana, also in Guildford, managed by brother and sister Jonathan and Cinzia. ....and, Yes, they confirmed they make their own pasta. I first visited this place earlier in the year with a work colleague and the food was delicious. I had the lobster ravioli where the sauce was just delicious. My colleague had the ricotta and spinach cannelloni, which was also very tasty (...though she would not let me try any of hers!). Links to the a la carte is below. (Note - there is no discretionary service charge.) https://www.bluesardinia.co.uk/a-la-carte Please note, BS is closed on Sunday's - hence this is a Saturday event. Let's meet for dinner at 19.15pm. (we will wait 15mins before ordering.) Czesc!

The Tenth Annual Guildford Beer Festival

Guildford Cricket Club

Szia! Okay, so ive been to this event a couple of times before and its quite a chilled, sociable event. The weather in June is pretty good and so there’s nothing better than starting the weekend by doing nothing but having a casual drink and a catch-up amongst friends. The event is held at the Guildford cricket club. There will be a huge array of craft beers for you to ruminate, procrastinate and question your own religious beliefs when deciding whether to go mild, bitter, pale ale, IPA or stout. Aside from beer, you can also purchase wine, gin and ciders. There will also be a food court area and live music. The event usually run smoothly and is only ever marred by someone asking for a tomato juice. So how does it work? Admission tickets are £10. In addition, you will need to purchase tokens for beer/food. If you buy your tokens online together with your admission ticket then you can purchase 9 tokens for a (discounted) sum of £15. You can of course buy your tokens on the day but need to buy your admission tickets online. • 1 token - entitles you to ½ pint of beer • 2 tokens – glass of wine • 3 tokens – gin & tonic • Food can only be purchased with tokens and not cash. But they do allow you to bring your own food. • No refunds available on tickets if you are unable to attend. My recommendation – if you’re really into beer then purchasing a discounted set of tokens online makes sense particularly if you think you’re going to drink at least 4 pints of beer. Likewise, if you’re thinking of purchasing both beer and food. Otherwise, it may be better to purchase however many tokens you’ll want on the day. The afternoon session is between 12-4pm. The event is very popular hosting over 2,000 people per session. So I would suggest getting there early given the potential queue lining up outside and the chances of us all grabbing a seat. Let’s meet at the cricket ground for 11.45am. Link to the site is below. https://guildfordbeerfestival.co.uk/ If interested, please RSVP so I can gauge how many are looking to attend. Chin Chin

Michelin-like food but not at Michelin-like prices!

Kidda! As some of you will have noticed, a lot of the events so far have been foodie events. Well, I like food...and, you need it don’t you! Anyway, in 2018, Dastaan - North Indian punjabi restaurant, was awarded a michelin Bib Gourmand for ‘good quality, good value cooking’. If you check the link below it comes recommended by acclaimed Michelin award winning chef Angela Hartnett. https://www.surreylife.co.uk/food-drink/restaurants/restaurant-review-dastaan-near-ewell-1-5417657 The menu is very interesting with dishes not typically seen on an Indian menu. Dishes such as; - Guinea fowl kebabs, - monkfish sinfiya - red pepper tiger prawns. They also have the classics such as biryanis, butter chicken, Chana masala, paneer makhani, The restaurant manager says their signature or popular dish is the lamb chops. So, the chance to try Michelin-like quality food at a reasonable price with a variety of dishes in Surrey sounds like too good an opportunity to turn down! Anyway, link to the menu is below with photos attached. Let’s meet for 12.15pm to be seated and ready to order by 12.30pm. Ich habe eine meiner Ziegen verloren!
