What we're about

COVID-19 NOTES: We plan to resume meeting in person as soon as possible. In the meantime, there are excellent online meetings. The NAASCA (National Association of Adult Survivors of Child Abuse) has 3 meetings per week posted on their home page at www.naasca.org

There is an Adult Survivors of Child Abuse RDU (Raleigh/Durham NC) Meetup group that has bi-weekly step meetings (21 steps of ASCA program) online. Feel free to join that one as well. They are at https://www.meetup.com/RDU-Adult-Survivors-Of-Child-Abuse

If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact us.

About this group:

This peer support group is for anyone healing from the trauma of childhood abuse and/or neglect including physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, mental, narcissistic, occult, and/or ritual abuse or neglect.

Please know that you are not broken and you are not alone.

One member recently commented, "I had an amazing time and so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and attended a meetup. I thank all of you for being so kind, loving and supportive towards me. I needed that more than you could ever know."

We use the "Survivor to Thriver" guidebook from the ASCA Program to loosely help steer us through the recovery process. By far, the emphasis is on sharing as needed and listening compassionately. We were not heard as children, and now we seek to be heard, understood, and believed in order to heal.

Our primary concern is to provide a supportive environment to aid in your recovery and ours. We do our best to make this a safe place to share from the heart. We invite everyone who attends to listen with care and compassion.

*This group is led by a survivor with no formal education in therapy. We would encourage you to find a therapist if you're not working with one already.
