What we're about

This group is all about building a closer connection with the natural world, through walking, observation and mindfulness.
Join if you want to get out into the countryside with like-minded people, get some fresh air and exercise. But also if you want to build a deeper connection with nature, through Celtic-inspired rituals and mindfulness exercises.
Each walk will be a little bit different but will usually involve a mindfulness exercise of some sort.

Embrace the Dark

Stanmer Park Nature Reserve

Embrace the Dark is all about encouraging women to feel a stronger connection with the natural world at night. It's an ecotherapy workshop, a night walk and a fireside event all rolled into one!

As the nights start closing in, come and celebrate the changing season with us.

Autumn is a time for slowing down and reflecting on the year that’s been. What do you want to let go of as the season turns?

Here’s what we’ll do during our October session:

• a sensory stroll through lovely Stanmer Park at dusk
• a seasonal creative activity
• sharing and chat around the campfire
• a sit spot
• a silent walk in complete darkness through the woods together

The darkness is fun when you’re part of a supportive group of women – so join us!

General info:

Embrace the Dark was born out of my desire to share my love of walking in the countryside at night – something I’ve done regularly since I was a child. I’ve always found it to be a wonderfully immersive experience: a powerful form of nature connection. But I realise many women don’t, because they are frightened of the dark.

All these workshops include nature-connection exercises and a group walk, without torches, in the dark. We also spend time around the campfire, sharing experiences and telling stories.

These night walks offer a shared journey and supportive atmosphere, with a sense of connection and authenticity. Everyone will have space to share and to listen. These are some of the things we do regularly:

- Storytelling around the campfire
- Mindfulness and grounding exercises
- A group walk in complete darkness and silence
- Mindful time spent on your own in the dark
- Poetry readings
- Sharing and reflection

Practicalities:

Tickets cost £25 per session and must be booked in advance. There are some concession places available for people on low incomes. More info and booking here - https://www.eequ.org/experience/985

Please wear warm, weather-appropriate clothing and walking boots and bring a torch (for emergencies only!)

We meet outside the front of Stanmer House at 6.15pm for a brief check in and introduction, before walking through the woods to our secret fire-side spot.

Look forward to seeing you there....
