Sixteenth Meetup:

Details
Dear All,
I am pleased to invite you to our sixteenth Sussex Data Science Meetup. As is the way of things at the moment, this meeting has moved online and will be conducted remotely via zoom.
We will close the meeting with open discussions and announcements from the membership.
I am excited to announce we have Dr Donough Regan, a Quantitative Analyst at Flutter Entertainment (a.k.a. Paddy Power and Betfair) as our main speaker who will be telling us about his work on:

Building a Sports Trading Engine
_____________________________________________________________________________________
In this talk I'll give an overview of work undertaken over the last few years to build out an automated trading engine for football. The platform leans heavily on a microservices architecture and I'll describe the agile manner in which this has been built. As a quantitative engineer I operate within a team of other quants, software developers, testers and product owners. I'll describe how this dynamic works and why we like it! On the more quant side of things, this talk will touch on how to build a football model while accounting for market risk and, on more bespoke modelling, including the use of AWS Sagemaker. I'll also discuss how we create compelling in-play correlated markets primarily designed for recreational punters.
