Hi Folks,

Am sending this out to the entire Meetup Group as I want to be inclusive and is much more efficient.

Purpose here is for you all to mark your calendars if you are interested in participating.

A couple of announcements -

First, and there will be no Meetup Announcement for this.

Sustainable JC has been tracking a number of Outreach & Educational activities and its time to collect ourselves and move into the next mode of our main focus which is Innovative Demonstration Projects. How do we do that ?  Well . . . through a 'Neighborhood Sustainability Planning' effort; this builds on all the level setting, tool sharing and team building we've been doing to energize and support folks project visions over the last many months.

We are pivoting slightly toward the deeper planning needed to structure these projects and have scheduled a formal planning discussion on Wed evening June 27th at 6:30 in our usual monthly meeting place - the HCCC GIS lab at the Culinary Conf Center at 161 Newkirk. This will be a meeting intended for those already in active Advisory Board / Organizing Committee / SWGT roles; if there are others in this SJC Meetup Group who have an interest in participating more actively with the organization, please reach me directly by phone 917-447-9839 and we can discuss the opportunity for you to attend the second half of this meeting as springboard into the group.

On that note, we are looking for specific support from folks to assist SJC on a few fronts - we have grown very quickly and can use some help with administrative activities, events planning, communications (including social media skills) and graphic design.  Our mantra is 'many hands make light work' and a 1-2 hour per week commitment is all we're looking for.  So the circle goes - we help you, you help the organization, the organization has more capacity to help others and more successful projects happen.  Same goes for new Project Leaders who are interested in plugging into our Collaborative - reach us with details about your project and hopefully our support structure and work model will facilitate your efforts.



Summer Meeting Schedule - Meetup event notices will be sent for these dates.

Please note that our first Tues July 3rd meeting date has changed to the following Tues July 10th and the venue will downtown at Art House Productions performance space.

We are going to use our July monthly SWGTs meeting to deepen the planning discussion, starting this evening with new collaborators IOBY and Art House Productions on crowd source funding.  Tonight is the first of three talks that will model the Neighborhood Sustainability Planning process we are beginning to share with the community - tonight Mon June 18th, next Thurs June 28th and then Tues July 10th. For the last session, Tues July 10th, our usual SJC monthly SWGT meeting agenda will be replaced with a facilitated gathering on a "Decision Tree Process" by which community stakeholders can select demonstration projects.  More information on this will be announced as we develop the workshop with colleague from the Rutgers' Arts Build Communities program.

Our focus is to integrate the Arts into Sustainable JC's Rain Garden Campaign initiative (Innovative Demonstration Project) and we hope that MANY threads - from functional design to regenerative landscapse to social and economic impacts - are mobilized through this process.
