Why is climate change such a hard topic to engage people on? Probably because you most often hear about the 'treshold of 410 ppm of CO2 in the atmosphere' and the 'trillion dollars of investments needed to meet the COP23 2050 goals' and the numbers of 'gigawatts that need to be installed to balance the energy mix', rather than about very cool success stories on sustainability heroes, cool cleantech startups that can change your daily life, tasty food that save your health and the planet, and sustainably-grown diamonds you can put on your finger ! In one word, let's focus on climate change solutions and not problems, and let's make them easy to relate to, desirable and cool. This group is addressed to all cleantech & sustainability enthusiasts: citizens, investors, entrepreneurs, climate change advocates and so on. More particularly, the group will focus on adressing the following question: how can we engage the wider public into the fight against climate change (and for a sustainable lifestyle transition), in order to pressure our leaders to act to preserve our planet while maintaining our standard of living?
The meetup will organise in-person meetings featuring speakers from every point of the economy, political, financial spectrum who are engaging, educating, advocating for the urge to tackle climate change as a society. The meetup will also present (and look for!) start-ups which business model or technology is focused on engaging the public on those issues by introducing sustainable and cleantech solutions through cool products that consumers are likely to relate to or use (gaming, sustainable fashion, behavorial change products etc.).
