Meetup & Talk Tech!

Details
After a summer break we're back with our autumn installment of #TechTalk with 2 awesome speakers and the chance to catch up with the local tech community.
Our speakers this time will be:
Gavin Davies, a developer and automation engineer who believes that the best way to challenge yourself professionally is to freely share your knowledge with others. He is the author of "Deal With It: Attitude for Coders" and co-hosts the "Never Out Of Beta" podcast. He also co-organises monthly tech meetup Unified Diff and others. He'll be talking:
'Characterisation Tests for Legacy Projects'
Legacy projects with no test coverage. Time to run for the hills? Not necessarily... We will explore the application of characterisation tests by telling the tale of an app that we worked on recently, and how we built in automation, testing, and QA processes from the ground up on a pre-existing product.
Fred Heath, a local Freelance Developer who loves solving tricky problems, Ruby, BDD, the semantic web, meta-programming and Agile processes. He will be talking:
Behaviour Driven Development: Feature this!
Abstract: 'Have you tried BDD and given up? Thought it was too much trouble for too little reward? Didn't quite work for you? Fear not, you're not the only one. But here's what I learned: it's not BDD, it's us! BDD works really well, but it has to be applied properly, following certain guidelines and avoiding specific errors. During this talk I'll demonstrate the best way to start our BDD journey by defining our system, discovering our Features and writing them correctly, identifying best practices, detecting common traps and pitfalls and learning how to avoid them.'
This talk would be perfect for developers, project managers, testers and anyone interested in software development practices so if this is you make sure you come along!
As usual Yolk will provide some nibbles & drinks & you guys will provide the expertise and networking.
We look forward to seeing lots of you there!
