Sydney Bushwalks & Getaways

This walk explores Springwood Creek and Birdwood Gully. The majority of the walk is on cut tracks but may include off-track walking and creek crossings.

Lunch will be at the Springwood Sports Club.

Start Location: 9:15am Springwood Station (Meet at exit on Macquarie Rd)

Transport: 7:54am BMT train from Central Station, Platform 7 arrives Springwood station at 9:13am.

Distance: Whatever you GPS says at the end of the walk
Terrain: Sealed Road, Bush Track and Off-track walking.

WHAT TO BRING. Please wear good bushwalking shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, rain jacket, first aid kit and 2L water.

Unfortunately coronavirus is active in Australia. Because of this you must not attend this event if you a feeling unwell in any way. Do not attend if you are experiencing any of the following (even if they are mild):

• Respiratory problems including: coughing, sore throat, or shortness of breath
• Other symptoms such as runny nose, headache, muscle or joint pains, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, loss of sense of smell, altered sense of taste, loss of appetite and fatigue.

An approximately 10km walk (over 10,000 steps), at a brisk 5km/h, exploring the parks and foreshore around the CBD. This week we will be walking to North Sydney.

From Stand K we will be walking to High Street with its views over Darling Harbour. We will continue on to Dawes Point walking through the Barangaroo Reserve and the Walsh Bay Wharves. We will then walk to The Bridge Stairs via the Glouchester Walk with its views over the Rocks. After crossing the bridge to Kirribilli we will walk down to Milsons Point and then along the boardwalk between Luna Park and Lavender Bay. We will then proceed to North Sydney via McMahons Point and Blues Point Road.

Starting from Macquarie Park Metro Station, we will take the Riverside walk along the banks of the Lane Cove river. This scenic and sheltered track is fairly flat and takes us to our lunch spot at the Lane Cove Weir.

After lunch we will head up Blue Gum Track to Roseville station. The up-hill parts in this section will help burn those lunch calories away.

Terrain: Mainly all bush tracks
Time: Around 4 hrs

Bungonia National Park is 190 km southwest of Sydney, 140 km northeast of Canberra and 35 km east of Goulburn. Access is via Bungonia (25 km east of Goulburn or 15 km south of Marulan). If entering the town from either Goulburn or Marulan, turn left at the signpost and follow Lookdown Road 10 km to Bungonia NP.

Beautiful camping ground in the bush but with all the convenience of a nice indoor camping kitchen and hot water showers. No camp fires.
