Modelling data in the modern BI stack
As any engineer knows, cleaning up and modelling data takes time, effort and resources that could be much better served tackling the insights the data reveals.
Meet dbt (data build tool). This open-source tool enables data analysts and engineers to transform data more effectively and reliably.
So if you’d rather spend your time actually working on the problem rather than trying writing and maintaining custom ETL scripts to transform data, come check out Claire Carroll’s talk.
Claire will take us through how dbt fits into a modern BI stack, how Airtasker uses this tool on a daily basis, and run a demo to tie it all together.

Learn how InfoTrack’s Big Data team integrates data from existing systems to locate properties and companies owned by a person. This talk will run you through our latest proof of concept – the AssetSearch. We’ll cover sourcing data, integrating all of it together into a data warehouse which is super flexible to add more data sources using various AWS tools – Lambdas, Spark, RedShift, Matillion, ElasticSearch and RDS.
