What we're about

Joyful Movement & Jolly Steps is an initiative of Shane Warren (http://www.shanewarren.com), Kait Luker (http://www.kaitluker.com) and Jeff Lou (https://www.chlmedical.com.au); who each understand the practical and motivational limitations of regular exercise…

We recognise there is happiness and health to be found in regular exercise, but know that few in the community have an innate motivation to get out there and go-go-go!

It is with this in mind we have opted to create a social movement for people to have a laugh, chat with others and achieve some exercise goals at the same time.

How does it work?

Applying the secrets of three, this is where we know for some reason the human mind and body seems to respond to things done in threes; we have established a timetable which motivates you to do three activities a week over three-week blocks.

Each term runs for 9 weeks in total and multiple classes are offered in that time – members are required to book into a class (i) to help keep the number of participants to a comfortable level; (ii) we trick you, people tend to turn up to something that has been booked and paid for in advance!

Walk ’n’ Talk is the practice of mindful walking with peers – so this is not about silent reflection, but rather about taking a walk and clearing the chatter in our heads!

Joyful walking has many benefits. Not only are there physical benefits of walking in itself but mindful discussion which has been known to help reduce blood pressure, lower heart rate, create feelings of wellbeing, improve your mood and help to manage stress…

All of which is going to provide you with better sleep, which in turn gives you all the benefits of good sleep such as immune strength, weight management benefits, improved moods, increased productivity and science tells us so much more!

Walk ‘n’ Talk meets at the square on corner of Yurong and Stanley Street Darlinghurst at 7:30 pm and starts to walk to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair no later then 7:40 pm.
