May 2020 - Robotic Process Automation and the Power Platform

Details
Our next Sydney Microsoft 365 Meetup is on Tuesday 12th May from 12pm. Note that this will be a virtual event so you’ll be able to join us virtually from the comfort of your own home!
You may have heard the term Robotic Process Automation, or RPA in conversations around workflow or business process automation, or in conversations with partners around Microsoft’s Power Platform. But what exactly is it? What does it do and why should you care?
This month, we welcome the return of Aylwin Wijaya (Clade Solutions) who’s going to walk us through the implementation of RPA in Microsoft 365’s Power Platform.
AGENDA
As usual we'll provide a wrap up of the latest Microsoft 365 news and new features. You can tap our subject matter experts for advice, and share your own experiences with Microsoft 365 as an enabler or consumer. We look forward to (virtually) seeing you there.
Agenda for April 2020:
• Event opens at 11:50 am (time and a chat before the session. Sadly we cannot administer virtual food and drink at this event)
• 12.00-12:10pm - Welcome and what's new in Microsoft 365
• 12:10-1:00pm - Session: Guest speaker: Aylwin Wijaya
• 1:00-1:20pm (Optional) networking and extended Q&A
SESSION OVERVIEW
Leveraging Robotic Process Automation using Power Automate to enable Digital Transformation
In a 2017 RPA Global Survey conducted by a leading professional services organisation, it was reported that 64% of corporate organisations included an RPA implementation as part of their digital transformation initiative.
This number is expected to increase of 72% in 2020. Those who’ve implemented RPA based solutions in the past 2 years reported returns on their investment within 12 months.
With the release of RPA capability within Microsoft’s Power Automate platform, we can easily automate mundane repeatable jobs with just a few ‘records’ and clicks.
In this session, we’ll walk you through a hands-on example on how to enable, set up, and implement RPA in Power Automate. We will also go through couple of examples and business cases where RPA is relevant. You’ll leave the session with a better understanding of your options to deliver smarter solutions incorporating the use of Virtual Assistants that work across Microsoft Teams, Power Platform.
Aylwin Wijaya is a consultant and technical lead focusing primarily on applications for financial services institutions. With a technical IT background, he’s cut his teeth as a developer with experience in delivering modern solutions for financial services organisations, across insurance, mortgages, loans, margin lending, equity trading and commodity trading. He’s probably very clever with money.
