AFTER Media + Entertainment Tech Expo (formally SMPTE) on Wednesday can visit the free exhibition hall who are generously hosting this months syd[video]. The theme for this evening will be focussed on looking forward in streaming technologies.
Tonight we have three talks from specialists who deliver streaming events to the worlds biggest audiences. They will be presenting take aways for anyone delivering a video strategy.

Topic: Versatile Video Coding (VVC)
*VVC is a future video compression standard being developed for finalisation around 2020 with a target of 50% better compression than HEVC*
Kevin Lambert - Switch Media - Solutions Architect (R&D)
Topic: Apple Low Latency HLS (Apple LLHLS)
*At WWDC19 Pantos released an official standard for Low Latency HLS. This new spec is very different to the video communities LHLS proposal - ALLHLS needs a more thoughtful approach and planning to work.

Topic: Streaming a Premium Library with the Content Fabric - A Quick Peek under the Hood
*This lighting talk will give a peek into the technology behind a first-of-a-kind digital streaming service featuring premium content from a major Hollywood Library that uses a novel distribution network with an edge-heavy/core-light design, blockchain control, and just-in-time AV transcoding and distribution without a traditional CDN. The particular premium content service builds on the underlying Eluvio content fabric introduced at Sydney VidTech in December 2018.
Neil McLaren (US) - SDVI
Topic: What supply chain means to media & entertainment
SDVI will step through the media supply chain used for Discovery Inc this case study will cover the challenges when sharing across multiple brands, teams and continents and how their hybrid cloud platform.
