SESSION: Developing Web Apps with Blazor
Melbourne App Development have deployed 3 production Blazor systems, the largest of which is the event entry system for Motorsport Australia https://evententry.motorsport.org.au, managing all levels for motorsport events in Australia except for Formula 1.

This system has 54 razor pages, 52 database tables (not counting reference data), 90,000 lines of code, 2400 line of component code, 7600 lines of razor pages, and took 4 full time and 3 part-time developers 5 months to build. It is a large enough system to test the production readiness of Blazor.

Rod Hemphill is the managing director of Melbourne App Development and will be presenting the basics of Blazor, what they learnt about developing Web Apps with Blazor, why they recommend it over React and Angular, plus more detailed things like how to get code reuse across to Xamarin apps.

More specifically, this presentation is intended for .Net developers that are new or have no knowledge of Blazor and will explain:

  • what are razor components and pages,
  • what a Blazor environment looks like,
  • the differences between server side and Web Assembly Blazor and why you would choose one over the other,
  • how to get started with your interface design, and
  • how to share code between Blazor and Xamarin.

Plus he will touch on the major learnings from building a large scale Blazor system and what they do going forward with other clients.
