What we're about

The organizers of this meetup wish to develop a community of meditators who wish to sit together to deepen and expand their personal meditation practice. Meditation instruction is given to those new to the practice of meditation and the organizers are here to support you in developing your personal practice. We are happy to answer any of your questions and look forward to sitting with you soon.

There are generally group sittings every Sunday at 5 pm located at the Upstate Yoga Center in Fayettville, NY. There is a small charge of $5 for this sitting to help support the space we use at the yoga center. Doug will be running these sessions and generally they sit for one 30-40 minute session after a brief introduction. Walking meditation may be part of these sessions as well. Also, for those interested in learning more about Buddhism, short talks are given by Doug.

There are also group sittings in the evening during the week at various locations. These are run by Adrien and the session begins with basic meditation instructions for those new to meditation. We then do 2-3 short meditation sittings focusing on our breath and remaining silent. After each short session, Adrien will answer any questions that may come up for meditators. These sessions are non secular and do not focus on any form of religion, we just focus on the breath. The sessions are free and open to anyone.

Monday evening meditation

It doesn't matter if you are new to meditation or an experienced meditator. We will have a 30 minute meditation with a brief reading before and after by spiritual authors such as Jon Kabat-Zinn, Katie Byron, Pema Chodron, Dalai Llama, Eckhart Tolle as examples. If you like company while you meditate or just want to try it out, please come join us. I have some meditation cushions and benches. There are also chairs available. I hope you can make it.
