What we're about

Hi,

Welcome to Syracuse University (SU) area Toastmasters clubs - meeting online!

We like to help others build their speaking and leadership skills, and we invite you to join us in that journey. Perhaps you're wondering how well it works- Toastmasters is an 80+ year old organization with more than 345,000 members in 16,000 clubs worldwide. Whether you're a timid or confident speaker, Toastmasters works.

There are three clubs in the SU area, including Orange Orators, VA Voices, and Master Toast.

Orange Orators

Members include a diverse group of SU employees, students, community members, ESL and internationals, people of all ages, and more. Skill level ranges from (initially!) fearful to lifelong public speakers. We meet online Tuesdays from 12 to 1:00- please contact us so we can include you in our meeting. (Previously we met in the Hillyer Room, sixth floor of Bird Library.) You can show up at any meeting, and continue visiting until becoming comfortable. We won't embarrass you, although you can choose to try something we call Table Topics. Check out our website orangeorators.org (http://orangeorators.org/).

Nelson R. Pardee, Orange Orators Toastmasters, President

VA Voices

VA Voices meets online on First & Third Tuesdays from 4:30 - 5:30 PM (previously Connor Conference Room -ground floor- Next to the ER, 800 Irving Ave Syracuse). Membership is open to the community, not just the VA. Check out our website, https://syrvavoices.toastmastersclubs.org .

Elizabeth Erwin, VA Voices, President.

Master Toast

Master Toast meets Wednesdays at 6:40, at the Whitman School of Management, Room 302, 150 Henry Street, Syracuse. Membership is open to everyone.

Rui Wang, Master Toast, President

How do I Grow as a speaker and Leader?

Once you join, an online educational program called Pathways will help you work at your own pace. There are multiple tracks you can choose, all of which include speaking and leadership, but may focus on areas such as coaching, persuasive speaking, motivating others, creating a podcast and leading a group in a difficult situation. A mentor will be available to help you along.

We hope to see one of you soon at one of these fine clubs.
