Football, soccer, futebol, fútbol, calcio, le football, fussball, sakka, fotboll, sokker. It's known by different names in the world, but the Beautiful Game is universal and brings people together. Every four years, all geo-political and ideological differences cease, at least for a moment, and countries unite to cheer on their team to compete in the World Cup--all for the glory of truly being the best soccer team in the world.
The hope of the Twin Cities World of Football Meetup Group is to indeed bring people together, men and women of all ages, soccer players/non-soccer players, in the Twin Cities through the passion of soccer. You can be the soccer newbie who is learning the game of soccer and eagerly wants to learn more about the game. Or the casual fan looking to get together with a friendly social group to watch a soccer match or play a fun game of pickup soccer. Or the soccer fanatic who lives and breathes soccer, yet has a deep respect for the game and knows, at the end of the day, it's a game . Whatever your disposition, we invite you to join us.
First and foremost, this is a social group. We know that passion for the sport, team loyalties, and rivalries run deep for some. We appreciate that; but mutual respect for the members are just as important. Yes, we believe that fans of the United States National Team and the Mexican National Team can coexist in such a group. Or that fans of the Spanish teams of Barcelona Football Club and Real Madrid Football Club can watch their teams play, sit at the same table and have a pint of beer. Or fans of the English teams of Manchester United and Arsenal can agree to disagree, for example, on the ongoing discussion of club versus country loyalties.n
If you are interested in sharing your passion and interest in soccer, please join us. We are a fun, social group and we hope to see you at one of our soccer events!
