What we're about

THE YORKSHIRE WALKING GROUP

The aim of The Yorkshire Walking Group is to bring together like minded people of all ages who want to enjoy a range of walks. Our walks range from 4 mile evening strolls, nice easy 6 mile Sunday walks to longer harder Saturday walks, strenuous mountain days/weekends away for people wanting to improve their fitness, meet new friends and experience the full range of the beautiful countryside and weather the north of England has to offer throughout the year.

Disclaimer

Everyone taking part in any of the Group activities does so at their own risk.

We do not employ qualified guides (although Gareth is qualified to lead walks with the walking for health NHS), leaders or first aiders on any of our events (two of our members are booked into doing their outdoor first aid training in September). The group works on the same basis of being a group of friends who go out walking together, who invite others to join them on this basis via the Meetup web site. Event organisers and event hosts assume no responsibility for anyone attending any group event. The Group, group organisers, event organisers and event hosts will not be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss occurring as a result of any Group event or in connection with travel to such event, however caused.

When you join a walk or other event, whether or not you have signed up for it on the Meetup site/ face book group site or you attend as a guest, you indicate that you accept these conditions and accept that no legal liability is accepted by the group, group organisers, event organisers or event hosts in the event of accident or injury, however caused.

Participants in Group events are reminded that outdoor activities frequently need specialist equipment (boots, waterproofs, etc) and the group does not provide these. Participants are responsible for assessing their own risk, the safety of themselves and their guests and the suitability of any equipment used.

Accompanied children under 18 are welcome only at the discretion of the walk leader- please check with the walk leader beforehand to ensure that the terrain and distance are suitable.

Dogs are usually allowed on walks but this is entirely at the discretion of the walk leader- please see the individual Meetup/ face book event details or contact the walk leader- dogs must be kept under close control at all times and on a lead where necessary or requested by the walk leader.

Members of the group are expected to show respect to all other members of the group, sexism, racism, bulling or any form of abuse will not be accepted and anyone found displaying any of these unacceptable behaviours will be asked to leave the walk/ activity and may be banned from the group.

Event hosts and the Organisers are not liable for any monies collected by themselves once passed on to the relevant end recipients, for example accommodation providers or eating establishment owners etc. Any monies once in their possession are the responsibility of these end recipients.
