The ITEM Pages

The ITEM (acronym for The Inclusive Technology & Entrepreneurship Movement) is conceived as a symbiotic ecosystem that is providing value internally to its constituency, i.e., its membership and its partners and externally, to the City of Philadelphia. The ITEM’s contribution to Philadelphia’s big agenda will be to address the issues of (i) poverty reduction/wealth creation, (ii) attraction and retention of millennials to the City, and (iii) branding Philadelphia as a world-class city, will be the programs set forth in the attached chart above:

The ITEM itself is a Pennsylvania non-profit organization that is seeking its federal tax exempt status that serves a tent pole organization for the minority and female technology community in Greater Philadelphia. One part monthly gathering hole for our members, one part tech inclusion advocate to the City of Philadelphia, The ITEM, on behalf of its membership, intends to have a seat at the table during the next Mayor’s administration. To contact The ITEM, please email us at theitemphilly@gmail.com.

• To address the issue of unemployment and underemployment, and their correlative effect, poverty, The ITEM has created The ITEM Academy, a training platform through which its constituency can be trained, repurposed and mentored for the purpose of gaining access to employment, entering into a new career or improving odds of climbing the corporate ladder, all in the technology sector. To contact The ITEM Academy, please email us at theitemacademy@gmail.com.

• To increase The ITEM Academy’s chances of attaining its goals, we thought it prudent to ensure there is a placement – perhaps staffing – services under the brand, The ITEM Resources. Leveraging its membership network, The ITEM Resources will build relationships with staffing and placement agencies, tech companies, non-profits and the entrepreneur networks in order to provide maximal value to its members and programming in The ITEM Academy. To contact The ITEM Resources, please email us at theitemresources@gmail.com.

• To foster a culture of entrepreneurship, we will deliver programming to promising entrepreneurs through an accelerator backed by a fund. With like minded partners, The ITEM Ventures will make sure that there is constant programming for entrepreneurs to sharpen their skills but also there is a focus on developing minority and female entrepreneurs. To contact The ITEM Resources, please email us at theitem@theitem.vc.
