Topic: "Modeling Ebola Incubation Distributions with R" - Giles Crane
Detail:
Identified in eastern Africa in the 1970's, Ebola is the most violent and fast-acting virus.
Incubation time distributions from CDC and WHO sources are fit with three functions widely applied to skewed distributions. Both nonlinear least squares and robust fitting methods will be applied. The controversy over maximum incubation time will be illustrated.
The fits will be compared with two familiar goodness of fit statistics, and with several R plots. Algorithms to sample from arbitrary distributions and two RStudio tricks will be discussed.
