Join New Orleans Functional Programming (NoFUN) and Tech Talent South for our Clojure Workshop! Seats are limited and we will will be providing catering so please only RSVP Yes if you plan to attend.

THE ATTENDEES (that's you!)
This workshop is open to everyone, regardless of experience level. We are ready to help you learn programming or, if you already know how to program, help you learn a new language. Our curriculum is flexible and our volunteers are ready to teach.

THE LANGUAGE
Functional programming is an exciting programming style that helps distributed programming like we find on typical web and mobile applications. It is gaining popularity because of the growth of the web, adoption by large companies, and an increasing pool of jobs. Clojure is a functional programming language created by Rich Hickey. It traces its roots to the Lisp family of languages. Clojure encourages an interactive programming style where you modify a live development system, so it is great for exploring ideas. At the same time, it’s incredibly stable and scales well to multiple cores. Clojure is used by many Fortune 50 companies, from Amazon, Apple, and PayPal, to eBay, CapitalOne, and Facebook. Clojure salaries are among the highest in the industry.

LookFar
LookFar is a software and startup studio in New Orleans, culture capital of the entrepreneurial south. They believe the next wave of transformative technology companies will not come from Silicon Valley or New York City, but instead from unexpected ecosystems in the Southeast and Midwest. They are committed to being the engineers, mentors, and seed investors behind those companies. Their roots as a company lie in decades of experience in software development. As a startup studio, they aim to not only build great products, but also to launch successful companies by surrounding them with the human and financial capital needed to rapidly scale in a competitive landscape. They are looking for creative solutions to big (sometimes unsexy) problems and domain experts who are ready to put skin in the game. If you’re searching for a true partner to tackle technical and business challenges, they want to get to know you.
