Presentation & Open Discussion
Keys to the Castle: Tableau Table Calculations
Some people have described Tableau as “a visual crosstab machine on steroids”. This is in no small part due to how easy it is to re-shape Dimensional hierarchies in unusual ways – and how Tableau elegantly re-calculates the values of measures and calculations to conform to dimensional hierarchies, data filtering and parameterized input.
When it comes to “Part to Whole” calculations, Tableau Table Calculations offer a wide range of functionality that users sometimes avoid using due to some conceptual and syntactical complexities.
The presentation will discuss the “theory and syntax” of Table Calculations, and demonstrate use cases where Table Calculations save time, and offer elegant solutions to a wide range of problems.
As always, the meeting agenda will include time for general Tableau Q & A and networking.
