Meditate and explore Buddhist teachings!
Join us for our weekly drop-in evening as we meditate and explore the foundations of Buddhism and meditation by listening and sharing. Through mutual dialogue with others, it's possible to clarify our own thinking. This can lead to a deeper understanding and relevancy, supporting us to put what we learn into practice. Anyone is welcome! We enjoy meeting newcomers. The evening starts with a guided meditation, followed by a short tea break. The rest of the evening is spent learning about and discussing an aspect of the Buddhist teaching, practical applications, and how we can draw inspiration from them in our lives. Suggested donation: $10. To learn more, visit

What we're about

"Awareness is revolutionary" ~Sangharakshita. The Tacoma Buddhist Center is a community built upon friendship and shared interests in living with more awareness and kindness. Anyone is welcome, regardless of experience and background! The Center offers a safe space to explore the Buddhist teachings on wisdom and compassion that can ultimately end the mental and emotional stress we add onto experience. Each person is encouraged to find out for themselves whether the teachings lead to greater peace, happiness and ease in daily life. So, join us at the Tacoma Buddhist Center and see for yourself!

The Tacoma Buddhist Center is part of the Triratna Buddhist community - a network of friends and centers across the world that was first established in England by Urgyuen Sangharakshita. After spending decades in the east as a Buddhist monk, Sangharakshita wanted to make the teachings accessible to westerners and help us discover how they could be applied to our modern lives.
