Leavenworth - Wenatchee Oct 8-9 trip: important lodging info

Greetings, Tacoma MTNR Singles:

I just put the Sat Oct 8 - Sun Oct 9 trip to Wenatchee and Leavenworth on the website; it should be a great trip, lots to see, check it out.  I plan to drive over Friday morning Oct 7, maybe see some friends, wander around Friday afternoon if anyone else would like to join me.

After contacting a half-dozen motels for a Wenatchee room the nights of Fri Oct 7 and Sat Oct 8, finding them all reserved full, I learned that early October is the Super Duper Busiest High Season in that area, all the hotels - motels - B&Bs fill up far in advance for Oktoberfest, etc.  So I did a little web research; found what looks like a nice, clean, older and smaller motel on the north side of Wenatchee:  the Moonlight Motel, found at  I called over there, had a very pleasant conversation with the manager (another Jim; we're all bright, handsome, helpful and modest...); reserved a room for Fri and Sat nights at $59.00 per night plus tax.  They also have two bed rooms for, I believe, $79.00 nightly, you can check.

If you're one of those fortunate people who can afford the Red Lion, Mark Hopkins, Ritz Carlton etc you probably won't have any trouble finding a room that weekend, or a B&B, for a couple hundred dollars nightly.  As Mr. Goofy usually is both cheap and broke (after living on my bicycle for a couple months anything with a roof is luxurious) I hunt for the least expensive digs available, this looks like it.  Jim said they currently still have about 8 rooms available for that weekend; when they're gone - good luck, you may wind up camping along Icicle Creek, or sleeping in your car.  There are private tent campsites around Leavenworth for about $30 nightly, cheaper ones in the nearby National Forest if you can find one.  For me this will be a luxury weekend, a room with a shower AND a microwave.

So -  if you think you MIGHT be going find some place you'd like to stay, make your reservation soon (now would be a good time), you can cancel later if necessary.  It's a lot easier to cancel a reservation you have than it is to find a room when none are available.

Please EM me with any questions, [address removed].

More as the situation warrants - Jim aka Mr. Goofy
