Holiday Potluck!

  • Our Savior Lutheran Church

4519 112th Street East, Tacoma, WA (map)

    47.155151 -122.368301

  • We meet in the North Campus 2 building across the parking lot of Our Savior Lutheran Church and to the right of the barn.
  • This will actually be a potluck, a mini holiday party.  Come out and enjoy the spread of delicious food and meet some great people!  We will be doing a round of Table Topics as well if you would like to improve your impromptu speaking skills!

What does being a better communicator mean to you?  What does being a better leader mean to you?  If you desire to become the person you pictured in your mind, then Success Speaks Toastmasters Club is the place for you!

We meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 7:00-9:00 P.M.  Our club is among the 14,000 Toastmaster Clubs across the world.  We strive to become more effective communicators and leaders so that we can increase the value we offer to the marketplace in our area's of interest. This is achieved through our participation in the extensive Toastmasters Education Program, consisting of over 50 project manuals that have various objectives to be completed.  We also participate in leadership activities where we utilize the effective communication techniques we have learned to lead meetings, clubs, or even club districts.

Individuals at any skill level of communication can benefit from Toastmasters, whether you are a beginner speaker or a professional speaker.  Speech projects begin with the basics of public speaking such as using vocal variety, body language, effective word choice, visual aids, ect.  These presentations are generally 5-7 minutes.  You then move on to the advanced manuals.  These speech projects range from 5-7 minutes, all the way to 1-3 hours in length depending on the type of project. The longer presentations are generally in a workshop style format, and some consist of multiple day sessions. Toastmasters is a self-paced program where you start where you are and go as far as you desire to go.

Along with focusing on developing as a great communicator, we develop leadership skills as well!  You begin by participating in club meeting roles where you learn how to conduct meetings and organize tasks.  You then have opportunities to take on the challenges of being a club officer and working within the club executive committee. If you wish to dive even further into your leadership development, you can choose to become a district officer, where you will oversee 4, 16, or 32+ clubs depending on your district officer position.

What are you waiting for? We would love for you to join us at our next meeting!

You are encouraged but not obligated to join at your first meeting.  When you do decide to join, rest assured, you will only be investing the amount you will invest on one cup of coffee per month!

I would also like to note that, although individuals under 18 are welcomed to attend as a guest, they are not qualified by Toastmasters International to become a member.  We can however organize youth leadership workshops for individuals under 18 years old if there is an interest for that type of program. Please let me know if you would like to see a youth leadership workshop and I will make that happen!

We look forward to meeting you soon!
