Tai Chi in the Park- Dementia inclusive!
This Tai Chi session is suitable for anyone wanting to give it a try. Participants are asked to come in comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear. The sessions will take place on grassed areas in the park when the weather is good. When the weather is poor we will use the Pavillion as cover. All participants are asked to meet at the cafe in the conservatory so we can go to the selected area together. The Tai Chi instructor is called Donna and as well as being fully qualified, she is a Dementia Friend. She will wear a distinctive top and her Forget-me-not badge so you know who will be leading the group. Her company is called D13 Fitness. We will be asking people to fill in a questionnaire on the first week and we would ask that people complete as many of the eight sessions as possible. We will ask for a second questionnaire to be completed on the last week. These will all be annonymous but will help to demonstrate that we put the small grant we won to good use! We will be asking for a suggested donation of £4pp so that we can continue to provide classes after the summer break. Any surplus money gathered will be used by Retain to fund other dementia inclusive activities in the cafe and park via the DEEP Group. Retain Wellbeing CIC is a not for profit organisation who has a legal duty to plough excess money back into the community.

    What we're about

We will be running our first 8 week block of Tai Chi sessions in the Park starting on Thurs 7th June.

Our fully trained and experienced instructor Donna will meet anyone interested in the cafe before walking the group over to the grassed area.

These sessions will be dementia inclusive and will provide the opportunity for all those who take part to move more within their own limits.

A small amount of seats will be available for those who cannot stand for long.

There will be a request for people to complete a short questionnaire (anonymously) and a suggested donation of £4 pp so that we can keep this going for as long as possible.

Any residual money will be used to support more dementia inclusive activities through the local DEEP group.
