Born in 551 BC in China, Confucius developed a set of thoughts that ended up shaping East Asian societies, from Vietnam to Korea. More than a simple philosophy, Confucianism is at times considered a religion, a tradition or simply a way of life, extending its influence over such fields as Western philosophy, political theory or martial arts.
In this event, we will be discussing Confucian philosophy. What was Confucius teaching? To what extend do you agree with him? Can Confucianism be applied in our daily lives, and with what results? After a short introduction of the philosophy, the table will be open for discussion.
No previous knowledge of Confucius' work or historical background is required. For the curious, here's an article that can serve as reflection starter: https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/confucius/
Hope to see many of you to discuss, inquire, think and learn!
