Poetry - April Meetup (Silver Spring)
Hello, Bookpeople! April is National Poetry Month, so let's meet to share our favorite short poems. We've done this four times before, and it has been a great fun! Here's how it will work: Choose one poem that you like, that is no more than one page in length, with a limit of 50 lines maximum. Remember, the poem must fit on one page!!! Prior to the Meetup (as soon as you can, but absolutely no later than Sunday, April 1st) send me the text of the poem you chose. (Either scan it, or type it in a email, or maybe you can find it on Google and just send me a link.) If you use to relay an email message to me, please also provide me with your direct email address. On Wednesday, April 12th, I will make available to everyone who has a "yes" RSVP as shown on the website a complete set of the poems in pdf format. I will send the set to your direct email address if I have it (so please make sure I have it) or I will provide a Google Docs link. (Emails relayed through cannot have attachments.) Be prepared to read your poem aloud (you can ask another member to read the poem if you don't want to) and tell the group why you like it and/or what it means to you. Because we need time to read and discuss the poems, the number of poem readers will be limited to 15. If you are not a poem reader, you are nevertheless welcome to attend to listen and comment only, up to 20 maximum, which is all the room can hold. As a courtesy to others, please RSVP only if you plan to attend and change your RVSP if your plans change. Song lyrics are permitted, as are personal compositions.

    What we're about

    Public Group

Meet other book people in a local book club. We read a book each month from a wide variety of genres. We decide which books to read by on-line polls. The book, 501 Must Read Books, is one source for our choices. We meet on the third Thursday of each month. Come to share your opinions and observations, have something to eat and/or drink, and make new friends from the neighborhood.
