RChain is a 3rd generation blockchain focused on solving the concurrency (transactions / second) problem that is limiting adoption of other 1st (bitcoin) and 2nd (ethereum) generation blockchains. We are building a prototype at BlockSpaces using RChain that is a future payment system, called a “coin faucet”, where we have installed RChain on a Raspberry Pi, and it can drop coins onto cell phones that are in the area around the Raspberry Pi.
RChain uses a custom programming language for building smart contracts, called Rholang. During this meetup, we will demonstrate the entire Coin Faucet dApp, how we built the smart contracts using Rholang, and how the Raspberry Pi communicates with cell phones using Bluetooth 4 LE. All of the code for this project is open source, so we will illustrate how everyone can create their own Coin Faucet and start playing with one of the most advanced blockchains available today.
This meetup is meant to present RChain as a third-generation smart contract platform by showing a fun use-case, a Raspberry Pi enabled Coin Faucet that could be deployed in business, venues, and events.
6:30 - 6:45pm: Getting acquainted and situated
6:45 - 7:15pm: Presentation of a RChain enabled Coin Faucet using Rasberry Pi.
7:45 - 8:00pm: Open Q&A and Bathroom Break
8:00 - 8:30pm: Why RChain is considered a Third Generation Blockchain.
Afterwards: Beers and more inspired conversation at 81Bay Brewery(directly next door)
