What we're about

Island Riders (IR's) is a group of family & friends from all walks of life who has a passion for cycling who really want to improve and sharpen their skills with good people. We enjoy riding for pleasure at all speeds from intermediate to advanced.

IR's welcomes the opportunity for you to participate in upcoming charitable fund raising events such as MS, Breast Cancer, Tour of the Cure to support the those in need and the community we serve and reside. Everyone is welcome to participate and ride with us as a responsible and safe cyclist. Additionally, we expect members of our group to actually participate in group riders from time to time as we will review memberships periodically and remover inactive members.

By participating in IR's scheduled rides and events you acknowledge bicycling has inherent dangers and you assume responsibility for yourself by participating. This means you recognize and accept responsibility for your actions and understand the potential for injury. IR's will not be responsible or liable for accidents due to negligence which may cause bicycle accidents to occur. We expect new riders to choose a category ride appropriate for their skills. Home Trail: Flatwoods Bruce B. Downs New Tampa!

This communication is long over due for our Island Riders members and potential new members. We have developed an Executive Board to keep our goals and values moving forward to maintain the highest standards for our members. Therefore, we have developed a set of requirements new members must meet in order to become an Island Riders (IR) prior to being accepted as a team member on our Meetup page.

Here are our IR expectations:

EXPECTATIONS TO BECOME AN IR TEAM MEMBER:
*Must post your first and last name on the Meetup page
*Must have a recent photo of yourself posted; No photos of pets, children, lovers, etc. (we like to see who's riding with us)
*Must signed up for the posted rides prior to the scheduled date
*Must know the rules of a pace line or attend a posted workshop for safety on the trails
*Must ride at least once a month with posted rides, or you'll be purged as a member
*Must wear a helmet

*Must be accompanied by a parent, if under the age of 18 years old

It would be greatly appreciated for everyone to remain in compliance with our requirements as we grow in membership and move forward to provide cycling information for: weekly rides, safety rules and regulations, sponsorship participation, competitive cycling, non-profit organizational rides, and social events off the trails for IR to get to know each other and have a good time.

Thank you for your compliance in the above IR EXPECTATIONS and we look forward in keeping our members updated, safe and pedaling to the next level on the trails.

Respectfully,
IR/Board Members
